An empty car of the metro of porto, portugal arrives at an aboveground empty station on a january morning in 2022. Recorded with a zoom h1n. This was a no-service subway stop so the doors did not open and there is no passenger noise. The audio travels from one side to the other as the metro passes because of the stereo mics. Recorded in july of 2019 at blue cliff monastery (pine bush, ny) using a zoom h1n and 3dio fs binaural microphone. At 9:30 p. M the"great togetherness meditation hall" was empty except for two meditators (one of whom can be heard leaving about three and a half minutes into the recording). The natural creaking of the building can be heard throughout. Additional sounds include outside crickets, cars passing on a nearby road, and an occasional airplane. The track volume was maximized using goldwave.

The soundscape of a thunderstorm that passed over berlin in 2012, recorded from my backyard window with a little earplug stereo mic that a friend once made for me - a dummy head. The heavy rain was followed by thunder, then transforms into softer rain that lets you hear faint city sounds like cars, doors closing, someone using a screwdriver, voices, the bells of a nearby church, airplanes and birds. I recently contributed a track to a triple lp set of krautrock cover versions ("head music 2", released by fruits de mer records, december 2020). The song i chose to cover was kraftwerk's "autobahn". If you know the track, you'll know that it uses synthesised traffic sounds alongside recordings of the same. On my version, i achieved these in three ways:. 1) i downloaded some public domain traffic sound effects from elsewhere here on freesound. Org (thanks, guys!). 2) i got in my car with my zoom recorder and made my own recordings of the engine starting, stopping, etc. 3) i made my own sound effects using virtual synths and effects in ableton live 10. This particular sound falls into the third category. Let me stress that while the song "autobahn" is copyrighted, these are isolated sound effects and are not covered by copyright. I'm making them available here under a public domain licence. If you download and use any of these samples, please let me know in the comments what you did with them. I videoed this sound of a subway train in glasgow scotland on the famous "clockwork orange" train as they are called. While the world is holding its breath, waiting for the covid-19 to pass. . . The soundscape is different. Here in illinois, where we have a mandatory, stay at home order, the sounds of the morning winds and birds seem lonely. . . This was recorded on sunday march 29th, 2020. Usually this time of morning would also feature, people walking and talking on the sidewalk, more car traffic and church bells. . . . Recorded with the zoom f-4 recorder. The microphone was a sennheiser mkh-8060 literally pointed nearly straight up at a budding tulip poplar tree. The dominant feature is the constant river of whooshing wind. . . . . Seemingly underscoring the plight that is upon us.

I was experimentally, recording the garage door opener, but then this happened: next door neighbor kick-starts motorcycle, idles it, an aircraft passes by, and then the motorcyclist rides away. Recorded sound is indirect except for a brief moment when the motorcycle pulls past the open garage door in the alley outside. Set up with schoeps cmc6-uxt/ mk41+mk8 ms stereo in rycote zeppelin on tripod in small suburban single-car garage that faces an alley between lots. What if we could hear sounds from another planet ?. In this imaginary place, people can visit zoos under water. Here is the sound of a yhtem, recorded by a visitor from inside his personal submarine. The recording device was found by a member of the zoo staff, as it was floating over the water. It gave no more informations about what happened to the visitor, except that according to several monster's specialists, the yhtem « sounded hungry ». In the real world, this sound was created using the sound of a very brief scream. At the background was a noisy street, and some cars were passing by. I used two different screams and mixed them, before decreasing speed and tempo in audacity. -. Xson « cannelé ». 11/29/2018 - burbank, california. Rain, flooding, and mudslides come to california when a sudden storm hit today. Most people got off the freeways quickly and tried to protect their homes from water damage. This recording was recorded with a zoomh4npro (2018) set at 120 degree field-pattern mode. The zoom was placed on a tripod facing out a 3rd floor window into a dead-end alleyway below. This recording is great atmospheric sound. The water can be heard trickling off spanish tile rooftops and dripping from overflowing terracotta pots. From the passing cars on a distant highway, to the occasional cough of a homeless gentleman walking on the street below, this recording is genuine and clean. Imagine adding that sound of a metal garbage can and a shrieking cat in the night! a sound that's great for sleeping or portraying a dark alley in gotham!. Enjoy!. Christopher c. Courter.

Midnight recording from the streets of neukölln, berlin, on new years day 2009. In germany, this is the one day of the year when members of the general public are allowed to set off fireworks. Echoes of bombs and fusillades ring out across the city, while clouds of smoke tumble menacingly through the streets. Close by, a peaceful child sets off sparklers, and is astonished by the display. In the morning, the streets are littered with their remnants -- charred bits of paper, streaks of red ash. Recorded with an edirol r-09. From a contemporaneous news report:. "clashes in three german cities marred new year celebrations, with police facing their toughest challenge from a crowd of mostly young revellers in the capital berlin in the small hours of yesterday. One small breakaway group from that crowd, which numbered 1,000 at the peak, tried to fire a skyrocket inside a police station and invade it, police spokesman frank millert said. The rocket lodged in a broken window and burned itself out, but several police were injured by the flying glass. Police arrested three on arson charges. Earlier, elements from the same crowd in the prenzlauer berg district had smashed the windows of a passing tram and bombarded a police patrol car with firecrackers. The trouble abated about 3am. ".

This is the audible annunciation found at all intersections with traffic lights in paris, france. It announces the condition of the traffic lights for pedestrians who are blind or with impaired vision. The annunciation is turned on by pressing a button on the traffic light pole. When the crosswalk sign is red (do not cross), the recorded annunciation is always "rouge piéton" ("red light, pedestrian"), followed by the name of the street that the crosswalk crosses (in this case "rue d'antin," the quiet side street where i recorded this). This repeats over and over until the crosswalk changes to green, at which point there is a two-second trill tone followed by a repeating bell tone. The bell tone is one bell, followed by two bells, repeated four times, followed by a very brief pause, and then the sequence is repeated again. This continues until the crosswalk changes back to red, at which point the "rouge piéton" message resumes. The annunciation continues for at least one cycle of the traffic lights and then stops, unless the button is pressed again. The audio quality of the annunciation is very poor even in real life (it sounds like a wax cylinder recording or something), and can be difficult to understand. This recording accurately captures the poor quality of the annunciation. The volume of the annunciation is also adjusted dynamically based on ambient noise, so there is a slight change in volume on this recording as the system apparently reacts to noise from traffic or something. There is a weak background noise that sounds like some sort of machine, but it wasn't coming from the traffic light and i don't know the source. The recording starts with the crosswalk red, then at about 18. 3 seconds it changes to green, then it changes back to red at about 53 seconds. A car passes at around 48 seconds. Hi. This soundfile was recorded on 03. 06. 2017 in szczecin, nw poland (gumience district to be precise). The time of this recording is from around 3 a. M. (when the sun was allready rising) till around 7:30 a. M. What's funny about that, is that i turned my recorder on and layed it on the windowsill (display up) on altitude around 5 meters (first floor), (the recorder is facing ne direction) because the birds were allready going crazy!, and after some time i felt asleep, and the recorder was left on. There are many many kinds of birds around, cause there is a big cementery near by, with lots of trees, and some wild fruit orchard too. I had this one moment, when the birds were so active, that let's say they spinned it me around, and worked me up to a beautifull spiritual moment with their sounds, and then i felt asleep. Later through the recording you can hear me snoring, you can hear my alarm clock going on (and that haven't woken me up too;). The bass resonance of cars passing by makes this recording a bit heavy in some places, and the wind made it's mark too, but that shoudn't be a big of an issue here. As i listen to it now, so much things happened while i was asleep. . . [ 3:30 a. M. !: some people are singing and speaking, and you can clearly hear one of them saying: "kurwa, grubo", which means - "f**k, heavy". Later on, the neighbours weren't sloppy too;). Hearing such recordings doesn't give you the liminous feeling of the place where it was recorded. You only get audio here, not the vision, the light, the brightness, the movement, the actions, and the space, the physical elements, only the best can imagine (so if you don't have such an imagination, pm me and i can send you a photo of the place where all this took place). Anyway, i hope that the birds will keep rockin' their solos, and the bees will keep visiting all the flowers around forever! (who knows, i might become one of them sometime;). Recorded in my dad's bedroom with lifecam hd3000 webcam. This is a much better recording than my previous oxygen concentrator file, as i hauled my desktop into the bedroom at the other end of the apartment where the machine now is, when i was home alone. The webcam is on the bed about 3 or 4 feet from the machineat the beginning of the file you hear me flip the big switch and the machine comes on with a long on beep and thumps. I edited it to start then. At 00:1. 8 what i suspect is the water pump comes on, though i may be wrong. That's when the gurgling starts though. The machine has a small reservoir for distilled water to moisten the airflow. A cup or two lasts several daysyou'll hear various hisses and thumps in a 15. 6 second cycle as it runs. At 03:03 i flip the big switch to shut the machine off, and it bubbles and gurgles away for the rest of the file, as water i assume slowly perculates back into the reservoir, the bubbling getting quieter and quieter until it doesn't even sound like bubbling anymore, until it finally ticks to a stop. At 03:16 you hear me step as i get my foot loose from the mic cord lol. At 04:13 the furnace shuts down as a car finishes going by outside in the bass register, faint traffic noises and the furnace being the only background noises you'll hear aside from my moving around a couple times, and a faint bluejay at the end. At about 07:00 you can barely hear the machine anymore, but i could hear a faint ticking with my own ears. At 07:04 the furnace comes back on. At 07:08 you'll hear a bluejay faintly calling outside and a car going by outside after, which finishes the file at 07:20. I edited out my walking to the computer to shut the recording down. After the oxygen and other free components are collected the pressure drops which allows nitrogen to desorb. In the first half-cycle the first cylinder receives air from the compressor, which lasts about 3 seconds. During that time the pressure in the first cylinder rises from atmospheric to about 1. 5 times normal atmospheric pressure (typically 20 psi/138 kpa gauge, or 1. 36 atmospheres absolute) and the zeolite becomes saturated with nitrogen. At the end of the first half of the cycle, there is another valve position change so that the air from the compressor is directed to the 2nd cylinder. Part way through the second half of the cycle there is another valve position change to vent the gas in the first cylinder back into the ambient atmosphere, keeping the concentration of oxygen in the pressure equalizing reservoir from falling below about 90%. The pressure in the hose delivering oxygen from the equalizing reservoir is kept steady by a pressure reducing valve. Older units cycled with a period of about 20 seconds, and supplied up to 5 litres per minute of 90+% oxygen. Since about 1999, units capable of supplying up to 10 lpm have been available.
